Get familiar with the components of traditional wood windows, including sash, glazing, joinery, and hardware, with emphasis on how these elements function together. Students will learn how to spot glaze, replace cracked panes, and safely handle glass.
Learn how windows interact with the building envelope in both brick and wood-frame (stick-built) structures, understand moisture, airflow, and common points of failure. Students will gain hands-on experience operating and removing sashes while identifying typical maintenance issues and materials found in historic windows. Emphasis is placed on safe practices, material compatibility, and techniques that respect historic integrity while restoring functionality.
All materials are included in the tuition. No experience is necessary.
Appropriate for students aged 18+.

More than 7 days before class → Full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) or a 100% credit toward another workshop (good for 6 months).
4–7 days before class → No refund, but you’ll receive a workshop credit (good for 6 months).
3 days or less before class → Sorry, no refunds or credits.
No-shows → Not eligible for refund or credit.
If we cancel a workshop → You’ll get a full refund or a 100% workshop credit — your choice.
